College soccer opens a ton of doors for players both for a career in soccer and after. I think that it's more important to do well in the classroom than on the field. It seems that most of the players on college teams aren't going pro, so instead they should focus on their school work instead of too much on the game. This way when they are done playing, they can be successful in the work force. Does anyone agree?

Obviously it opens lots of doors for the post soccer career, but does someone who aspires to be a TOP player really want to waste 4 years not playing at the level they could be at professionally. Most players start becoming pros around the same time they go to college here in the US, so the top players usually go over to europe and start that career. By going to college youre missing out on 4 years of making it to the top level.

I think that many of the players in college in the US end up going into the MLS. There aret really opportunities for players when they are that old in erope. If europe is a players dream, then they should follow it and take care of school later, but if school is top priority, thhey might have to settle for an MLS contract at best

Although it might not be the glamour of europe, the MLS WILL gain credibility, and within the next 10 years become a recognized league worldwide. If american players can get their foot in the door, they will soon have as much credibility as european players, and soon make as much money.
