U.S. U-17 WNT HEADS TO SUNRISE, FLORIDA FOR TRAINING CAMP: The U.S. Under-17 Women’s National Team will once again set up training camp in Sunrise, Florida, from May 1-7, as head coach Kazbek Tambi has called in 24 players for a week of training that includes a match in Sunrise on May 7 against the U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team. Twenty-one of the 24 players attended the U-17s January camp in Sunrise as Tambi continues to refine his squad in preparation for CONCACAF qualifying for the 2008 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, the first-ever world championship for this age group. The CONCACAF U-17 Women’s Championship will be played from July 17-26 in Trinidad & Tobago with the top three teams advancing to the World Cup in New Zealand, to be held from Oct. 28-Nov. 16, 2008. The group stages of qualifying will be played at Dwight Yorke Stadium in Tobago and at Marvin Lee Stadium in Tunapuna. The semifinals and finals will be played at Marvin Lee Stadium.
