Seton Hall women announce 12 recruits

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. — The Seton Hall women’s soccer team has signed 12 recruits who will join the team for the 2008 season. The announcement was made by head coach Kazbek Tambi. Wiebke Balcke is a forward from Potsdam, Germany, where she currently plays for FFC Turbine Potsdam in the highly competitive Bundesliga. In addition she has played five matches with the U17 German National Team. Ashley Beamish, a native of Buffalo, N.Y. will be joining the Pirates next season having played varsity for the Niagara Wheatfield Falcons for four seasons. For three of her four seasons, she captained the team while leading them in scoring and assists. She is a three-time First Team All-Niagara Frontier League and First Team All-Western New York award winner, as well as Niagara Gazette Female Soccer Player of the Year and Niagara Falls Police Athletic League Female Athlete of the Year. On top of that, she played nine years with Buffalo United, a Premier Soccer Club, and played for the U16 New York West State Champions. Christina Cinelli is a forward from New Hyde Park, N.Y. where she attends Sacred Heart Academy. As a three-year varsity starter, she captained the team her senior season, and also received All-League Honors. During her junior season, Cinelli led Sacred Heart to the State Championship. She is also a member of the ENY ODP State Tea and the Rockville Centre Royals Soccer Club. Kiley Horne is a goalkeeper from Scitoute, Mass. and attends Thayer Academy. She has been a starter all four years and has received All-League recognition, while also playing for the highly competitive Scorpions Soccer Club and attending some of the top college showcases in the country. Chelsea King will bring her goaltending experience from Fieldsboro, N.J. where she captained the Notre Dame High School team during her junior and senior seasons, and received All-State honors in her sophomore, junior, and senior years. Lauren Lehman is a West Caldwell, N.J. native and attends James Caldwell High School where she was a four-year starter on defense and team captain in her senior season. Lehman has earned All-League, All-Conference, and All-State honors, and was also named NJSIAA Scholar Athlete of the Year her senior season. Currently, she holds the James Caldwell High School records for single season goals, single season assists, points in a game and career goals and assists. She has also led her World Class U18 club team to five championships and a bronze medal finish at the 2007 U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships. Caitlyn Milazzo has been a three-year varsity and two-year captain player for Barrington High School in Barrington, R.I. where she was named a two-time First Team All-State award winner. Milazzo also plays for the highly competitive 2007 state champion Rhode Island Rays Club as well as the Rhode Island State ODP Team. Megan Milazzo will join her sister on the Pirates team in 2008. She also attended Barrington High School in Rhode Island and was a three-year varsity starter as well as a two-year captain, while playing for the Rhode Island Rays and the Rhode Island State ODP Team. Haley Olsen is a defender/forward from Payallup, Wash. where she was a three-year varsity starter at Rogers High School. During her time in high school, Olsen earned All-League Honors while being a two-year captain. Nicole Peterson will make her way to Seton Hall from Federal Way, Wash. where she attends Todd Beamer High School. Peterson was named Defensive MVP in 2005, 2006, and 2007, and earned First-Team All-State honors while captaining the team her senior season. Stephanie Soma is a forward from Franklin, Mass. where she was a four-year varsity starter and four-year All-League selection while attending Franklin High School. Soma received Rookie of the Year honors her freshman year and has been one of the league’s leading scorers all four years. In her senior season, she was named captain, team MVP, and First Team All-State. Taylor Wilson, a Rahway, N.J. native, will bring international experience to the Pirates. In January 2008 she was selected for the U18 Women’s National Team, and competed in three international matches in Argentina. She also plays for the U18 Arsenal/World Class team where she was a 2007 state champion, 2007 regional champion, and 2007 national semifinalist. In addition, she helped her team win the 2007 Orange Classic while being named the tournament MVP. |
