DENVER - With the 2nd day of matches complete here at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, attention will now turn to the coveted all-star game berths prior to Monday night's showcase match of the adidas ESP event.

The day brought a much better standard of play due to acclimation, familiarity and the absence of 70-MPH wind gusts that disrupted all 3 matches played Saturday.

Day 2 saw better matches as All-Star selections loom

This was the best match of the first 2 days of the event, and Baltimore Casa Mia Bays forward Jon Guzman punctuated it with a last-minute equalizer for Team Santel , driving a shot home after Brian Carr had made a good save on Clifford Lyle's diving header from a Ted Mullin cross to make the result 1-1.  Guzman's goal canceled out the opener from Team Mondelo's  Arsenal FC forward Jon Tovar, whose hard shot hit the post then caromed off the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

Team Mondelo got good performances from Leon Carby on the left, Jon Paul Medina and Cody Henderson in the middle and Nicholas Alers and Michael Derbecker in the back line.

For Team Santel, Guzman was solid as a target forward again. The big forward can bring the ball down quickly, hold it up while waiting for support, and distribute well. He also has a good turn and a quick burst of speed to give himself room for a shot, which in his case is usually a pretty dangerous shot.

The Oklahoma pair of Jack Coleman and Boyd Okwuonu, both converted to center back for this event, played a solid game in the middle. You can check out the interview of these 2 in our video section. Josh Gatt was good again at right back and Triangle FC's Ted Mullin continues to be one of the finds of the event with his good close control and creative work in the attack.
