The first of the weekly TopDrawerSoccer FAB 50 rankings see the addition of seven boys and four girls teams as high school play is under way in 18 fall-playing states.

Most of the nation’s fall-playing states will be in action starting this week.

Even though only four teams in the boys Top 25 played last week, there was quite a lot of movement thanks to one result.

Former No. 3 St. Ignatius (Cleveland, Ohio) lost a match at the Jesuit Cup, allowing formers Nos. 4-25 to each move up one place. St. Benedict’s (Newark, N.J.) remains No. 1, followed by McDonogh School (Owings Mills, Md.). St. Anthony’s (Melville, N.Y.) slides up to No. 3, starting the run of teams moving up one place. 

There are seven newcomers to this week’s boys rankings, starting with Garinger (N.C.), checking in at No. 25. No. 45 Olentangy Liberty (Powell, Ohio), No. 46 Trinity (Louisville, Ky.), No. 47 St. Edward (Lakewood, Ohio), No. 48 Great Valley (Malvern, Pa.), No. 49 Fayetteville Academy (Fayetteville, N.C.) and No. 50 Walsh Jesuit (Ohio) join the rankings.

On the girls side, a pair of ties in Ohio and one surprise in Indiana shuffled the deck for a number of teams ranked between No. 5 and 35. Twinsburg (Ohio) is the highest of the four newcomers to the rankings, checking in at No. 35 after a tie with former No. 4 Walsh Jesuit. Cincinnati St. Ursula (Ohio) fell from No. 19 to No. 45 after a draw with No. 46 Mason (Ohio). A loss by former Top 25-ranked Zionsville (Ind.) knocked the Eagles out of the FAB 50 for now and opened the door for several teams to inch higher in the rankings.

Maria Carrillo (Santa Rosa, Calif.), Avon (Ind.) and Northern Highlands (Allendale, N.J.) remain ranked Nos. 1-2-3.  

In addition to Twinsburg, No. 48 Skyline (Salt Lake City, Utah), No. 49 Center Grove (Greenwood, Ind.) and No. 50 Lone Peak (Highland, Utah) join the girls FAB 50 this week.
