Berkshire School boys lost to a rival prep school for the first time since 2011, and that one result opened the door for a new No. 1 in this week's Prep Top 10.

Loomis Chaffee, which has rolled up an impressive undefeated season, moves to the top spot with a week left in regular season play after Berkshire fell to South Kent School 1-0.

It was an interesting week of results, as Hill School and Mercersburg Academy played to a 2-2 draw in the first of what might be two meetings. Given Hill School was coming off a win over South Kent School, a case could be made that both of the Pennsylvania prep programs deserve to be ranked higher than Berkshire. However, the results among other common opponents say otherwise.

Undefeated [Milton School ma-m], dangerous Worcester Academy and surging Lawrence Academy make the 2014 Prep Top 10 the deepest field of No. 1 contenders since the Prep Top 10 was formed four yers ago.

Ultimately, the upcoming Pennsylvania Independent Schools state championship and NEPSAC A and B tournaments will produce a worthy No. 1.

On the girls side, there was little change other than a couple teams flip-flopping spots. Choate Rosemary Hall remains a clear No. 1.
