Region, State HS Rankings: September 1
It seems the safest way to remain a state No. 1 -- is to not play.
Another week of high school action resulted in a change in the top spot in 11 boys and three girls fall-playing states.
Some of the key moves on the boys side include perennial state, region and nationally ranked St. Charles East (St. Charles, Ill.), Chaminade (St. Louis, Mo.) and St. Thomas Aquinas (Overland Park, Kan.) taking over state No. 1 rankings.
One boys team on the rise is Hopkins (Minnetonka, Minn.), which is off to a 4-0 start in a state were all of the preseason favorites have taken at least one loss early in the year.
On the girls side, the new state No. 1s are Prior Lake (Prior Lake, Minn.), Lone Peak (Highland, Utah) and St. Pius X (Albuquerque, N.M.).
