While the current landscape of college recruiting in girls’ soccer removes the drama from National Signing Day, it is still worth looking at a breakdown of where the TopDrawerSocccer.com Top 100 for 2010 graduates will be playing.

The increasing level and breadth of quality in the girls’ game means more good players will be filtering to more programs. While the perennial peak performers, such as North Carolina, Stanford, UCLA, Notre Dame, Portland, Florida State, Texas A&M(w), USC and Boston College will continue to recruit well, more and more programs are reaping the benefits of the work done at the club level. This has already resulted in more teams below that very top tier being able to beat the top tier teams on a given day (not to mention some who are seriously knocking on the door to be admitted to that group). It reminds us that the recruiting decisions of today greatly impact what takes place on the field in the future.

Our #1-ranked player, Centreville, Virginia’s Jenna Richmond, fresh off a championship win with the U20 Women’s National Team at the CONCACAF Qualifying Tournament for this summer’s FIFA U20 World Cup, is set to join coach Jillian Ellis at UCLA, while Utah’s Kealia Ohai is one of five Top 100 picks going to North Carolina. So Cal Blues standout Elizabeth Eddy will be staying close to home at USC, while Stars of Massachusetts powerhouse forward Hayley Brock is set to join Erica Walsh at Penn State. #5 Top 100 player Kecia Morway of Chicago-area club Eclipse Select will be playing her college soccer with Randy Waldrum at Notre Dame.

We won’t rank the recruiting classes for a while, as all the information is not in yet from the schools themselves, but here is a breakdown of who got the most players from the Top 100 list.
