US Youth Soccer has released its Top Ten Nominees for Goal of the Year. My early favorites to win are Cara Walls (FC Milwaukee) and Melvin Snoh (Penn Fusion), but what do I know? No one gave me a vote.
They even managed to squeeze in a U10 goal, which, if you’ve ever seen a U10 match you know how impressive that is (I kid).
Hands down the best part of this nomination clip is brought to you by Cameron Moseley at 2:52. After scoring his goal the kid puts his finger to his lips and gives the international shush symbol. I love it, and maybe it’ll become a signature move of his when he reaches the big time, but for future reference bud you can’t quiet a crowd unless you, uh, have a crowd. Having said that, he did manage to silence the one lady watching from a lawn chair (looking at the video again) … oh, wait, she was already asleep.
Anyway, nice job Cameron as well as all of the nominees! The winner will be announced February 17 at an Awards Gala that I wasn’t invited to; but remember kids, you are all winners! … But for time’s sake we’ll just choose one of you, ok?
