Upon further review, FIFA may finally be ready to review.
Soccer’s governing body is planning to test new technology that will allow referees to review questionable goals.
Apparently, the breaking point (um, besides thousands of matches that have been irrevocably affected by blown calls – Maradona I’m looking at you, bud) was Chelsea’s 5-1 victory over Tottenham this past weekend.
The match featured the ‘ghost goal’ above by Juan Mata that was so bad Patrick Swayze may have been behind it (or, in front of it. Since he’s a ghost we can’t really know for sure).
Said Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp:
“That (goal) was a disaster. We need goal-line technology, surely.”
Said the 21st Century: Welcome. Thanks for joining us.
