U.S. U17 WNT will qualify for World Cup

Written by Jahmal Corner

Yeah, I know: The U.S. U23 Men’s National Team disappointed us.

Yeah, I know: the U.S. U17 WNT fell short of the World Cup two years ago.

But let’s not belabor the past. With the U17 WNT roster having just been released for CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying, it’s clear that this is a new group with new direction.

Coach Albertin Montoya has gone to great lengths to build a team over these last eight months and taking a glance at his personnel reveals that he’s done it.

This is a deep group, beginning with the steady leadership of Morgan Andrews, a versatile talent who can help the squad on both sides of the ball.

The U17s have offensive sparks like Toni Payne, Summer Green and Lauren Kaskie, strong finishers like Emily Bruder and a backfield that is comfortable with one another.

It’s a good group. So take a deep breath, and exhale those recent U.S. Soccer letdowns.

The U17s will be just fine.
