Let’s get right to it: here’s the Fitness Magazine cover. Very, um … patriotic.
Now, if you’re one of those ‘readers’ who actually, like, reads (who are these people?) this may interest you: In the feature article, Hope talks about dealing with depression in 2007 around the time she was benched at the World Cup and went on her famous rant.
Here’s an excerpt we plucked from the Detroit Free Press:
“First I lost my best friend (who was hit by a car while running) and then my father (who suffered a heart attack), and then I got kicked off the team in the World Cup. I hit an all-time low. I didn’t leave the house. I was in a complete depression. It took putting one foot in front of the other every single day to get through it to the point where I made it back on the team and won a gold medal in 2008. You’re always going to survive the pain of loss. I can live with that confidence inside of me.”
That’s weighty stuff. So there you have it, Hope picking up our spirits in print and bikinis.
