Hi, my name is Chris Thomas and I just set the Elon single-season and all-time goals records in the same game … so uhh, when can I take you out?
It’s that simple! Chris Thomas has a built-in date card but he doesn’t use it. That’s not him, he’s too … (what’s the word?) like, humble, and stuff.
Here are three things you should know about Elon’s incredibly modest record-holder and the leading scorer in the nation.
1. Chris Thomas accomplished that last sentence in one game. He scored twice and assisted on the game-winner to beat No. 18 West Virginia Tuesday. His nation-leading 15th goal of the season is a new Elon record as are his 45 career goals.
“I was more proud of the winning assist (vs. West Virginia),” Thomas said. “Matt (Wescoe) gave up his body to score it. It was a great play.” … Wait, you own goal-scoring records and we’re talking about assists – like, why?
2. I repeat, Chris Thomas will NOT use his campus status to get a date. “I would never drop that line (about goal-scoring) to get a date,” Thomas said. Why not!? “I’m not that way, my teammates tease me about it all the time.”
3. Chris Thomas doesn’t do anything cool to celebrate his goals. “I don’t do anything special – my team gets on me all the time. If I do anything it’s boring. My focus is on what’s going to happen next.”
And what would it take for Chris to break out a cool celebration?
“I don’t know. I’d have to be feeling really good or excited about something.”
Like, say, a date?
