No. 1 prospect Junior Flores signs with German club Borussia Dortmund

Written by Jahmal Corner

Junior Flores, our No. 1 ranked player in the 2014 class, has signed with German club Borussia Dortmund as reported by Steven Goff of the Washington Post.

Flores is a product of McLean Youth Soccer in Virginia and is in full-time residency with the U.S. Soccer U17 program. He is currently in Allicante, Spain with the 20-player team named for the 2012 AGS Cup.

A gifted attacker who has burst onto the international scene over the last year, Flores will not join the club until he turns 18 in 2014 when his four-year deal is said to go into effect. The Post has also reported that Flores has signed a two-year deal with Nike.

Flores is not a “product of McLean Soccer” he came to McLean Academy from another club and was immediately taken into residency. He played with McLean after he came home following the World Cup. He did not come up in the McLean program.

I think thats a great point to make… Since most kids are being ignored if they are not from a DA. Or top club. Good job to Flores and his parents for not giving up despite it must have been frustrating as im sure he was quality from u14 up. Good example for US soccer… I hope they take it to heart. Thanks for keeping it real Futbolnova.
