You have to love CONCACAF red carpets like the one Costa Rica laid out for the USMNT this week. They denied the Americans a practice field. They purposely slowed down traffic. They greeted them with a weirdly angry Russell Brand at the airport. It’s everything great about the region. Seriously. I love it. You don’t see Denver Nuggets fans throwing down spike strips when the Jazz roll into town.
But this one is my favorite by miles. In the middle of a Jurgen Klinsmann interview, a man in a cow suit comes waddling up to the camera. He’s politely ushered off to the side, where you then hear the bleat of an air horn. Once being told not to do that, you hear it meekly one more time, like the air depressingly being compressed out of a basketball. It’s like a physical comedy routine from Gallagher somehow found its way into Klinsmann’s face.
It’s by far the greatest thing to come out of Costa Rica this week. Cows. Give me more cows.
