The ghost of Uruguay’s 1950 World Cup-winning side has awoken

Written by Will Parchman

In 1950, Uruguay beat Brazil 2-1 at the Maracana to capture the World Cup title. This is obviously still a big deal in South America, because Puma came up with a video commemorating the event in its World Cup jersey reveal for Uruguay.

And the video itself is pretty great. The ghost pokes around Rio (at one point riding atop a glass-walled cable car up to Sugarloaf Mountain) and eventually ends up on the field where the ’50 win happened. That’s one way to stir up your rivals to the north.
