This week’s College Goal of the Week is maybe the best collection we’ve had all season. A trio of silly, silly nonsense. Read on.
Our three combatants this week: Virginia’s Derrick Etienne (THE DRIBBLER), Penn State’s Nickolette Driesse (THE SNIPER) and Xavier’s Alex Ridsdale (THE BIKER). All three are total insanity. Let’s take a look inside the machinery.
First up this week is Etienne, a highly touted recruit out of the New York Red Bulls system who had yet to earn his first college goal before this week. That changed against VCU, when Etienne went on this mazy adventure from midfield to furnish the only goal in a 1-0 game. Etienne starts this move at midfield and dribbles past or through six players before coolly chipping the keeper. Oh, and it kept Virginia undefeated.
Next is Driesse, who did her part to help lift the Big 10-champion hopeful Nittany Lions to a rousing 5-1 win over Iowa in league play. The settling touch on this is a thing of beauty, but the rocket that comes off her foot almost catches you by surprise. It certainly did the keeper, who watched this beat her to the corner with all the stunned shock of an American Idol judge watching a teenager sing Opera.

Finally, we saved a good one for last. Our SportsCenter Top 10 goal this week comes via Xavier’s Alex Ridsdale, who pulled off a real, genuine bicycle goal in a 2-0 win over IPFW last week. The ball takes a deflection off a defender, pops into the air and Ridsdale springs into action almost immediately. Reaction + Skill = This silliness.

Now you have your field. Time to choose a winner. As always, voting closes at noon (PT) on Wednesday. Choose wisely.
UPDATE: Congrats to Penn State’s Nickolette Driesse, whose piledriver takes the vote this week over Etienne. Fair warning: we already have a few ridiculous submissions for next week. Life is good.
