Jesus Ferreira goal videos are becoming something of a running theme ’round these parts.
Back in December, not long before I tabbed him as FC Dallas’s best up-and-coming prospect, Ferreira did a fairly crazy thing at the Development Academy’s winter showcase in Florida with FCD’s U18s. During the preamble to a free kick, the New York Red Bulls let left their drawbridge open and unguarded, and Ferreira walked right inside the gates. The goal was an object lesson in chicanery.
Ferreira’s at it again, this time on the senior level.
FCD invited a boatload of youth to its preseason training camp in Argentina, including recently signed Homegrowns Reggie Cannon, Paxton Pomykal and, yes, Ferreira. All three have had strong camps, and while there almost certainly won’t be a starting spot awaiting any of them, playing time? That’s another matter entirely.
Ferreira in particular has had quite the preseason, and he forcefully stamped his marker on the thing with a goal to remember over the weekend against River Plate’s reserves. Ferreria found himself on the shallow left wing and put his defender inside the earth’s molten core before cutting back and finding the far post.
It was one of those goals you remember as a signpost en route to Ferreira’s eventual breakout for the first team. Remember that time Ferreira embarrassed a grown man in Argentina before anyone knew who he was?
Yes. Yes we do, friend.
