Fulham plans to unveil a statue of the late great pop singer in front of Craven Cottage on Sunday before its match with Bolton. It might appear Fulham FC is more concerned with honoring the late Michael Jackson than winning matches but perhaps they are on to something.

Fulham is near the bottom of the table and I don’t think even Michael Jackson could save them at this point. Even though this seems a bit odd to unveil when your team is struggling, I think it is awesome and maybe just what Fulham needs. Maybe this distraction will deviate pressure from a sub-par season. Who doesn’t love the king of pop?

It’s being reported that everyone in attendance at Craven Cottage on Sunday will find one white glove under their seat. At the moment the two teams walk out before kick-off, everyone will be asked to pull on the glove and point to the sky as a mark of respect.

Management has even told the players they have to do the moonwalk if they score a goal, could you imagine Clint Dempsey doing the moonwalk? (To see Michael Jackson inside Craven Cottage click continue reading)

Get me a tree house

Written by Administrator

I came across this image while I was browsing one of my favorite Tumblrs, Sunsurfer — which basically posts amazing photos from around the world throughout the day. The tree house is located in the United Kingdom and was made by Amazon tree houses.

This tree house is not only one of the coolest I have seen; I think its necessary for me to have this! With that said, I’m hereby initiating;

GET ME A TREEHOUSE!

If I worked from this tree house, my productivity would go through the roof. I’m not saying topdrawersocccer.com has to get me this tree house but they probably should.

Donations will be accepted, stay tuned.

Brazil’s Neymar suggested that Scotland fans that booed him during a friendly between the two countries on Sunday were motivated by racist attitudes. The Scotland Football Association now wants an apology from Neymar for his comments.

Apparently, a banana was thrown onto the pitch after he scored his second goal at Emirates Stadium. Of course, there has been a history of racism clouding soccer in Europe and in the past throwing a banana is a clear incitement of racism.

Here’s the problem, it later came out that it was a German student who threw the banana from the Brazilian fan section and there was no racist intent. However, how would Neymar know that? How do we know the German fan wasn’t motivated by racism?

Too often things like this are swept under the rug and it is appalling. I think until that person apologizes to Neymar for throwing the banana and explains the situation, Neymar shouldn’t say a thing.

There is a plan to combine all of Great Britain for the London Summer Olympics soccer tournament next year. Most likely, the only player that is not English who would make the combined team is Gareth Bale.

Former US national team goalkeeper Brad Friedel thinks Bale should defy a potential ban imposed by the Welch FA and play for team Great Britain. He says:

“For players such as Gareth Bale to miss out on that experience would be terrible. It’s not just the actual matches it’s the entire learning experience. You get to be around all the other sportsmen and women and for players to miss out on it in Great Britain would be a travesty.”

I do agree with Mr. Friedel that missing the Olympics is terrible and it is a once in a lifetime opportunity. However, he is completely wrong to say just give in and join the Great Britain side. I think Bale should take a stand, defy the combined team and declare he is only playing for Wales.

He isn’t British, he is Welch and to combine those two together is like trying to blend oil and water. He should demand that Wales be allowed to compete on their own, not buried behind a Great Britain flag. Even if the competition pounded them, at least they would be their own team.

Christopher Sanuino, a 17-year-old Colombian soccer fan, was shot and killed while playing the game he loved. He was a fan of the Cucuta Deportivo Colombian soccer club. After his wake, friends of his took the coffin and paraded it around in the streets and finally took him into the stadium. (video inside post)

Could you imagine watching a game and suddenly you look to your left and see a dead guy? To some it might be a bit creepy but I think this is awesome; there are a lot of people who wish to have their ashes spread at stadiums and that’s not weird is it? Granted, I’m sure this isn’t great for the publics health and there are probably a lot of legal issues with this. There are even teams (Hamburg SV) that have sections of cemetaries just for their supporters.

It is not clear whether this was his last wish or not but to be paraded around before 45,000 people is a pretty cool way to go out. This just shows how devoted fans are to their teams, even after death.

Who cares about Cricket?

Written by Administrator

Apparently the Cricket World Cup has started play and I have to ask, why should an American care about cricket? I know it’s hypocritical, because soccer is an international game, but I just can’t imagine cricket, or other international sports (i.e. rugby), gaining major footing here.

My gripe is with ESPN. Can you please stop trying to shove this ridiculous, wannabe baseball, down my throat? Today, they ran an entire OTL report about Johnny cricket player. The problem is, even the reporter didn’t know a thing about this poor guy.

I realize it took soccer a long time to gain it’s semi-solid footing here, but keep-in-mind there was a demand for it. Soccer is the largest youth sport in the United States and has more collegiate athletes than any other sport! But, let me ask you, do you see any youth cricket leagues in your area? How about Division 1 Men’s or Women’s Cricket squads? (Video inside post)

If Toy Story 3 had made a trailer like this (Video inside post), I might have known that there was a Toy Story 3. Who cares about a doll trying to run around and find his way back to his owner, especially when the owner has thrown you out THREE TIMES NOW! Have some self-respect, man.

Woody needs to act more like William Wallace and less like, well, Woody. If he had, the toys would have never been lost, put up for sale or thrown away! Changing things to be more like Braveheart is what the world needs, Scottish accents and crazy dudes painted in blue are never dull. When has the combination ever yielded anything but awesome results? Look at this crazy guy, it looks like he is a combination between a Chelsea fan and the Joker, either way it’s awesome.

Zygo (an Australian company) has released their new boots, the Deztruct, and apparently suction cups are going to be the next breakthrough in soccer technology. According to Zygo, the suction cups or what they refer to as pods will help store energy and grip the ball, here is what they say:

The pods perform like a spring, storing and releasing vital energy. The ensuing friction provides exceptional grip – assisting ball control and accuracy. The instep zone amplifies spin and swerve. Inspired by the human fingerprint, the energy pod’s design stimulates feel by absorbing pace when receiving passes, and provides larger ‘sweet-spots’ to reduce your margin for error.

This is Adidas’ new commercial and I for one LOVE IT! It incorporates everything I like about sports and entertainment, the mashup of Lionel Messi, Derek Rose and Justice’s new track Civilization is awesome. I also think Adidas did a good job incorporating the fans and showcasing their passion for whomever they support, a tattoo of Lionel Messi on your chest? That’s devotion!!!

I think the correlation of music and sports has always ran deep, if you look at basketball and hip-hop the two seem synonymous. Has electronic music found a niche with soccer or has it crossed into mainstream with commercials like this continuing to pop up? All I know is, I hope one day I am cool enough that Justice will make a theme song to my life, until then I guess this commerical will have to do!
