A giant Barcelona monster awkwardly stalking through the middle of a game. A keeper swatting the ball into his own goal from 18 yards. A headless player. A fan who inverts his neck to put his head into his own hands. This madness makes for great viewing.

This escaped The Eye of The 91st Minute for more than a month, but fret no longer! It’s the Barcelona team FIFA 14 tournament, where Busquets writhes on the ground over challenges that aren’t even physically real and there are so many bro-chest bumps you get a little dizzy.

Decide which next gen console you’re plonking down some cash on just yet? Good news. Either way, you’ve got FIFA 14’s next gen entrypoint waiting for you when you do.

Here are a couple videos better explaining some of the changes to EA Sports’ first offering on the new batch of consoles. The biggest alteration is clearly the atmosphere, which now includes some dazzling pre-game tifo displays, a more interactive and impressively rendered crowd and generally improved player models. It seems as though the actual gameplay changes will be minimal considering this is essentially a current gen port, but the system is in place to make the game pretty darn impressive in the coming years.

By all rights, FIFA 14 is a fantastic iteration in the series. With proper momentum introduced for the first time and the most intelligent off-ball runs yet, it feels more like soccer than any FIFA in history.

But it’s still prone to some hilarious (albeit rare) glitches. Like the two you see above in which a keeper stumbles into the net with the ball in his hands and Gareth Bale is humped mercilessly by a goalkeeper.

On Monday night, Tim Cahill played a game of celebrity FIFA 14 against Drake at the official kickoff party in New York City. It was, ahem, well-covered. Cahill won on penalties and I don’t think Drake’s entourage stuffed him in a dumpster. So that’s good.

Anyway, with FIFA now out in the states and about to hit Europe, Cahill is back with another promo vid for some of the game’s new celebrations. So if you want to hear a bunch of cheeky Aussie phrases, GOOD ON YA KANGAROOMEN because here you are.

I know your calendars are set, so I know you’re aware that FIFA 14 comes out in a mere four days. So step away from that life-size countdown clock you’ve erected in your closet and come watch this video.

It’s got Isaac Newton floating on a cloud. It’s got physics. It’s got Robert Lewandowski. What more do you need?

fifa-14 (1)

It’s a good day to be alive, world. The FIFA demo dropped on Tuesday, and it seems like EA is finally tuning the player weight/momentum to appreciable levels. Cutting is tougher, changing directions seems more realistic and it’s a bit slower in general (even without touching the sliders). It’s at least a bit tougher to simply dribble by defenders, which, if you’d ever taken control of CR7 in ’13, was pretty easy.

With the demo release comes a couple nice new videos. Now go spam those three-minute halves with Barca in the demo. You’ve still got a week and a half to practice before I drill you online.

It’s everything you ever wanted out of a Monday. Clint Dempsey’s slightly awkward acting, a (fake) goal against Mexico and a glimpse at the boys’ centennial unis in virtual form.

GOOD WORK, STEVEN. I probably would’ve busted out the pants-off dance-off, but that’s neither here nor there.

Yes, we’re all excited about FIFA 14 dropping next month (Demo on Sept. 10, full game on Sept. 24 for all us ‘Mericans). A number of gameplay enhancements, a glut of new teams, new stadiums and… what’s this… PATRICK STEWART? P-STEW??

Yes, Mr. Star Trek himself is all over this sweet gameplay trailer. Can he please be an unlockable character for the Legends team? I can already see his custom goal celebration: stun-gunning Lazio’s entire Curva Nord section of the Olimpico during a Roma Derby. Excellent.

After having a spectacular individual season last year, Gareth Bale, the 23-year-old Spurs midfielder, graces the cover of the newest FIFA 14. Check out the video to see all of the technology that went into capturing the movements and techniques of Bale. It’s incredible how much technology goes into creating just a single player so that it looks realistic. Let’s hope they still included his signature “Eleven of Hearts’ celebration now that Bale is looking to trademark it.
