VIDEO: U.S. U23 MNT prepares for Cuba

It’s just one week until the beginning of the CONCACAF Olympic qualifying tournament, and the final U.S. U23 camp is under way in Nashville, Tennessee.

The stakes are huge at this point as coach Caleb Porter takes his group through final preparations for the opening match against Cuba on Thursday, March 22. He’s hoping to play a particular style while also guiding the USA to London.

Hear from U23s Perry Kitchen, Jared Jeffrey and Ike Opara as they go through the initial stages of the final camp.

The best part of waking up … is U.S. U23 highlights

Shower. Morning coffee. U.S. U23 Men’s National Team highlights.

I’ll take credit for the last one. The U.S. defeated FC Dallas 2-1 on Wednesday. Here’s a cheat sheet, assuming you don’t want to watch the entire video (which is, however, complete with ambient noise from a Tom Hanks scene in “Cast Away” … several scenes, actually).

  • Ike Opara scores a great header at around 56 seconds.
  • Freddy Adu takes a horrific penalty kick at around 1:40.
  • Brek Shea scores the game-winner at 1:58
