So the ESPY ballot is out and we’ve got some decent soccer representation for the awards show on July 11.

Recently graduated Stanford standout Teresa Noyola is up for “Best Female College Athlete” and joins big-names Alex Morgan and Abby Wambach among the nominees.

Wambach, following her performance in the World Cup, is up for “Best Female Athlete” against the likes of Maria Sharapova, Brittney Griner and Lindsey Vonn.

Morgan faces even stiffer competition in the “Best Breakthrough Athlete” category against Jeremy Lin, Anthony Davis, Robert Griffin III and Rob Gronkowski.

I’m thinking Morgan is a long shot for that one, but at least being category mates with Griffin III will allow the two of them to reach a first-name basis.

Not to be forgotten, Cristiano Ronaldo is up for “Best International Athlete” while the top MLS Player category comes down to Beckham (huh?), Brad Davis, Dwayne De Rosario and Chris Wondolowski.

If Beckham wins I’m boycotting the ESPYs. Oh yeah, I wasn’t invited to begin with.

Ok, RGIII, you’re back in our good graces. There was that whole inexplicable thing about you confusing Alex Morgan with one of her teammates, but we’re past that now.

Griffin III met up with the U.S. MNT prior to their friendly against Brazil on Wednesday. He said all the right things, calling soccer the ‘real football,’ and even got his own customized Where’s Waldo jersey.

Nice bounce back Robert. Looking forward to seeing you during the ‘fake football’ season.

Can someone please loosen the helmet of Robert Griffin III – you know, let some oxygen in there?

The Baylor Heisman Trophy winning quarterback – and soon to be ‘Randy Moss-straight-cash-homey’ paid star in the NFL – made an unforgiveable mistake last week when he confused (my) Alex Morgan with her U.S. WNT teammate Tobin Heath (like, how?).

After Griffin met Heath during an outing last week, he tweeted about his excitement in meeting Morgan (who was actually Heath) only to have the real Morgan tweet him the correction that he’d actually met Heath … you following this?

I sometimes have trouble keeping names with faces, but not when it’s the face of U.S. Women’s Soccer! And not when it’s (deep breath) Alex (deep breath) Morgan.

Griffin tried to salvage his error with a closing tweet after the jump.
