There aren’t many offerings for soccer fanatics on the video game front. For front office tinkerers, the life-draining Football Manager is a fantastic option, albeit the only real one. FIFA and PES have dueled for years over player-controlled supremacy, though FIFA has stagnated dramatically over the past three years and PES still lacks so many licenses.

Other than lackluster mobile options that’ll get you through a patch of boredom on an airplane, there isn’t much else. The shortlived FIFA Street franchise was nice, but it hasn’t existed since the fourth iteration came out in the first quarter of 2012 on the previous generation of consoles.

That’s why these gorgeously rendered photos of a street soccer court in Brazil play on the imagination to such a tantalizing degree. They’re titled “RIO” in the Imgur folio, so we know the specifics of that, at least.

Redditor redrad56 posted these on Reddit’s r/gaming on Friday, and hot damn are these just some of the greatest things you’ll see all week.

Ever want to play soccer in an anime show? No? Well shut the hell up because you’re about to get smacked in the face with some sweet INAZUMA ELEVEN action.

This is what’s being called a “soccer-RPG series,” which, for those of you unfamiliar with RPGs, basically means fantasy soccer but way crazier. If you have a Nintendo 3DS, you can buy this thing now. So… yeah. Do with that what you will. But be sure to watch this video a second time. It gets weirder.

Plus, what is an UTTER GUTSINESS BAT?! I… don’t really want to know, actually.

FIFA 12 Holiday Ad

Written by Administrator

There is nothing worse then getting a lame holiday present like underwear, a sweater, or socks. You look at the person who gave them to you and say thank you, but really you’re thinking, what in the world makes you think I’d want these?

EA Sports released an ad that might be able to help you avoid any sweater, or underwear mishaps this holiday season. Soccer stars Wayne Rooney, Gerard Pique, Kaka, Jack Wilshere, and Tim Cahill encourage people to buy FIFA 12 for the holidays; by declaring all they want “is the ball”. The ad is clever, and it put a smile on my face to see these guys act. Especially when Wayne Rooney holds up a puppy with sheer horror on his face, and asks, “What am I going to do with a puppy?” Hysterical.

Upon further review, isn’t that Rooney’s old hair do? Remember, Wayne Rooney decided to have a hair transplant last summer. When did EA film this? They really do a good job of scheduling these guys for shoots; this must have been filmed right after last season.

Activision’s third installment of the popular video game series, Call of Duty, has had much anticipation throughout the gaming community. It was predicted the game would dominate the old sales record held by its predecessor Call of Duty: Black Ops. Several sources have claimed that Modern Warfare 3 has held up to the lofty expectations.

On opening night, Activision says that approximately 1.5 million gamers lined up outside 13,000 stores to buy a copy at midnight. I’m not entirely sure how Activision got that number, and those gamers didn’t all necessary translate into sales.

As for the game, I personally was able to play it last night, and it’s amazing. The single player campaign starts with you fighting through New York’s financial district. The game is not only fun, but its visuals are stunning, at some points it feels like you’re watching a movie. The game has lived up to the hype in my opinion, and the experts at IGN agree, giving the game a 9 out of 10.

The trailer for Rockstar Games’ latest version of the popular video game series “Grand Theft Auto” has been released. It appears “Grand Theft Auto V” will be set in Los Angeles, which will make an awesome setting if the designers use the vast space, and culture that is all over L.A.

The trailer’s voice-over suggests the main character is a retired criminal who has moved to the city to enjoy its warmer climate, golf courses and beaches. He says he wants to become “a good guy” and to raise his family, but then he’s dragged back to his criminal ways by something we are unaware of so far.

Since the franchise began, it has shipped more than 114 million copies worldwide to date, and it looks that number will receive a nice boost with the “Grand Theft Auto V”.

FIFA 12: Support Your Club

Written by Administrator

EA Sports’ new concept is fairly simple. If you’re a Arsenal supporter, the points you earn from the game will be combined with points from other people from around the world who also support the Gunners. Of course there are differentiators that will help level the playing field for clubs, and their supporters who may not have the following Arsenal, or another EPL team does.

The “Support Your Club” feature of EA Sports Football Club brings a whole new twist to the concept of playing a video game. To me, it’s a game-changer. What I think is really exciting about this new feature is that it puts the gamer into a position to make the matches they play online more meaningful. The player will have more personal investment every week, as they try to help their club reach the top of the table.

Ronaldo on Pro Evo cover

Written by Administrator

A photo of the European cover art for the upcoming release of PES 2012 has been released. Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo is featured on the front cover, wearing his white Real Madrid kit.

Do you think being on the cover is like a second place finish for him? Personally, I’d much rather be on FIFA’s cover. Pro Evo is like the minor leagues of soccer games.
