It’s rare for late pro signings to impact recruiting classes in women’s Division I soccer.
But Alyssa Thompson became the latest player to opt to pass on compete in college soccer, putting her name in the NWSL Draft and staying home to play for Angel City FC. Previously signed to play at Stanford, she’ll suit up in the pro game instead.
That aside, transfer and international signings lead to the biggest changes in women’s DI recruiting as the leadup towards the 2023 season continues.

Losing Thompson to a pro opportunity is a huge blow, though the Cardinal have still added a stacked class. Bhuta and Harvey should be able to come in and play right away. It’s an elite reinforcement in the midfield for sure.
