The ECNL Texas event produced some captivating performances, and naturally the older age groups got into the act. And while there were only a select few U18 sides from outside Texas to attend the event, there was plenty of talent to take in across the board.
With that in mind, this is TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Best XI for U17 and U18 teams that it saw in Fort Worth last weekend.
GK Kindra Lierz, St. Louis-Scott Gallagher U18: SLSG’s defensive record in Texas wasn’t perfect, which had something to do with the robust competition the side faced over its three games. That said, the way Lierz helped her team finish out the tournament was admirable, and she put in a full-time shift to remember in a scoreless draw against an ascendent Lonestar SC side on the final day. Despite facing an attacking barrage for the duration, Lierz impressively never cracked.
