Coronavirus postpones id2 Tour
The US Club Soccer id2 Tour has been postponed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), the organization announced on twitter on Monday. The id2 program has been one of the most successful U.S.-based programs in getting players scouted by European clubs. The program counts Christian Pulisic, Tim Weah, Josh Sargent, Tyler Adams, and many others current professional players among the alumni of the tour.
This year’s id2 tour also included a girls team, featuring players born in 2005, for the first time. This year is the 11th edition for the boys team, which features players born in 2006. Both the male and female, teams were scheduled to head to England and Scotland between March 13-24. US Club Soccer tweeted that the tour would likely be held in August or September when rescheduled.
The id2 Tour is not the first soccer event to suffer from the virus. High school soccer teams have been adjusting games and forgetting contests in response to the disease.
