The U.S. Under-20 MNT finished its time in Mexico, losing 2-1 in the Concacaf Championship final to the host side.
While it was an understandably disappointing end to the team’s tournament, the USA was just seconds away from a 1-0 win, as Mexico turned things around with late goals.
At the end of the day, tournament performances are more about identifying players for the next level, and less on the results themselves. A qualification for the 2025 World Cup had already been secured, and with a younger group on the field, a loss to Mexico isn’t the end of the world.
The search for next-level players from this group didn’t yield a long list. However, here are some of the candidates that would make the jump to the full men’s national team.
