Regional Roundup: Midwest
The college and club soccer season is well underway across the country, with non-conference play coming to a close this week. In this weekly column, TopDrawerSoccer will be dividing the country up into several broad regions and putting a spotlight on a new one each week. This week, we’ll take a look at some of the major storylines out of the Midwest from the first weekend in September.
College soccer will take center stage for the early entrants of this column, but as the year progresses, club and high school soccer will be highlighted as well. Got a local soccer story we should tell? Please send us an email at editor@topdrawersoccer.com with links.
First -- a note about geography. I’m well aware that there are… various definitions of what constitutes the Midwest. For purposes of convenience, this column will define the Midwest as follows:
I am not a geographer, I am simply a man who watches a lot of college soccer. I’m sure your complaints about why a certain state should or should not be considered Midwest are correct. Now, with that out of the way, let's get onto the footy.
