CARSON, Calif. – The U.S. U15 Boys National Team is still merely a glimpse of the future for the Federation, but with each passing camp there is more reason to be optimistic with how these players are developing.
This group of players born in 1998 marks the first cycle that will pass through the youth national team structure since the introduction of the coaching curriculum and an ideology shift for the Federation into developing a similar playing style throughout the age groups.
Of course, it has also helped that this is one of the most talented groups that have passed through the youth structure in some time. Highlighted by winger Joshua Perez, striker Joe Gallardo, center back Daniel Barbir, and others, the core of this group has fit in nicely with what USSF wants to accomplish with the youth national team.
Beyond that trio though, there have been youngsters who made their mark in recent camps and climbed into the conversation with the first team for this age group. From this most recent outing, there were a few who made lasting impressions during the weeklong stint at the Home Depot Center, which included four games against local U16 Development Academy clubs.
The U15 BNT ended the week with one win, one draw, and two losses. However, there were still positives to take away from the individual showings.
