The U.S. U17 Women’s National Team won the CONCACAF Championship on Sunday after accumulating a perfect 5-0 record in the regional tournament in Grenada over the past 10 days. The youth national team only conceded two goals through the five games while scoring 17 goals.
Throughout the event, the U.S. had a number of moments of individual brilliance as players made the most of their first time playing in a World Cup qualifying event. Injuries to Sydney Zandi and Kiara Pickett forced some new players into the spotlight for the event or forced some familiar faces into new roles.

The end result was the third CONCACAF Championship for U.S. Soccer at the U17 level. Budding star Ashley Sanchez was awarded the Golden Ball at the conclusion of the event as the best player in Grenada. Sanchez looks to be on the fast track in the U.S. youth system as she has already featured prominently with the U20 team as well. Goalkeeper Laurel Ivory collected the Golden Glove as the best goalkeeper in the tournament. Beyond Ivory and Sanchez, there were a number of players from the U.S. who had great showings in Grenada and should be in the U.S. youth national team system for a long time.
