The Development Academy regular season has wrapped up, and with just Playoff and Showcase games to play, it’s time for goal scorers to rest on their laurels.
No player has had a swifter rise up the goal scoring ranks than Chivas USA Academy forward Caleb Calvert. Listed on the U16 squad, Calvert started playing up with the U18s towards the tail end of the season, and it didn’t deter him in the least, as 10 goals since the last update in March vaults him atop the U16 scoring charts.
Despite an injury hampering his playing time, Vancouver Whitecaps Academy forward Brody Huitema just managed to hold off Jordan Morris in the U18 goal scoring charts. Though it’s worth noting that Morris likely would have surpassed the mark if it weren’t for missing time with the U20 Men’s National Team at camps in California and France.
Plenty of the leaders from this season depart for the college ranks in the fall, as they look to build on solid scoring careers in the Academy ranks.
