U15 BNT wins group at Copa Mexico
The U.S. U15 Boys National Team defeated Uruguay 3-1 on Monday in the final game of Group B play at the Copa Mexico de Naciones in Mexico City. The victory propelled the U.S. into the knockout rounds as the group winners.
Richie Williams group will face Costa Rica on Wednesday in the quarterfinal.
Monday’s fixture was highlighted by a two-goal and one assist performance from Monterrey striker Joe Gallardo. The San Diego-native also had two goals in Sunday’s 4-0 win over Panama. The video highlights from the shutout victory can be seen here.
Gallardo is tied for golden boot honors at this stage with Colombia’s Edward Orlando Bolanos Angulo.
LA Galaxy Academy forward Haji Wright added the other goal for the U.S. on Monday - his first of the competition. Joshua Perez and Christian Pulisic had the other tallies for the Americans on Sunday in the win over the CONCACAF rival.
