Binghamton Gets Past Women’s Soccer
Junior midfielder Kirby O’Keefe scored her first collegiate goal, but Binghamton held off Siena Women’s Soccer 2-1 in Vestal, N.Y. Senior captain Taylor Booth made five saves for the Saints.
Binghamton (2-3) out-shot the Saints (1-4) 21-4. But Booth held the Bearcats off the board until the 65th minute when Samantha Crane finished a breakaway. Katherine Corcoran added an insurance goal for Binghamton in the 82nd minute.
O’Keefe would give Siena some late life just over a minute and a half later. Following a scramble in front after a corner kick, O’Keefe chipped a shot over the keeper’s head to pull the Saints within a goal. Senior captain Anna Grant and freshman Kelsey Horst were credited with assists.
But that would be the only shot the Saints could muster in the half as Binghamton held a 13-1 edge in targets in the stanza.
Siena plays its fifth straight America East opponent Sunday when the Saints host Hartford for a 1 p.m. kickoff at Siena Field.
