Blugolds Shutout by Saint Benedict
ST. JOSEPH, Minn. (Blugolds.com) — In the final game of the regular season, the UW-Eau Claire women's soccer team fell 1-0 on the road to Saint Benedict (Minn.).
After a big come-from-behind win at home on Saturday against UW-River Falls, the Blugolds (7-8-3) were shutout for the seventh time this season. Saint Benedict (12-2-1) scored in the 34th minute and that was all they would need.
The Blugolds were outshot in the contest, 14-to-10. Saint Benedict did receive a yellow card in the 86th minute. Nina Behrenbrinker (Sr.-St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) made four saves on five shots in goal.
UW-Eau Claire will now spend the next week preparing for the WIAC conference tournament. They will host a first-round game against an opponent to be determined on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. at Bollinger Field. The complete tournament field will be announced next weekend and details will be available on the Blugold website.
