CCSU Women's Soccer Falls to Yale, 1-0
The Central Connecticut women’s soccer team fell to the Yale Bulldogs on Sunday 1-0 in New Haven, CT. Central’s record drops to 1-6.
Yale (5-3) outshot CCSU 16-8 and Blue Devil goalkeeper Nikola Deiter totaled five saves on the game. Central was led by junior Allison Kelley who posted four shots.
After 32 minutes of even play, Yale senior Kristen Forester put the ball into the net from five yards out on a cross from junior Juliann Jeffrey putting Yale up 1-0. Central senior Cara Cavallari posted a shot following the goal in attempt to even the score, but it resulted in a save by Bulldog goalkeeper Rachel Ames.
The second half kicked off with a blocked header shot by Kelley followed by a corner kick by Cavallari. A CCSU foul turned the ball back over to the Bulldogs. Central battled in the second half, posting five of its eight shots, but it was not enough to make the comeback.
The Blue Devils will return to action at home this Friday, Sept. 21 for their first conference game of the 2012 season. Central faces Monmouth at the CCSU Soccer Field at 7 p.m.
