The University of Wyoming women's soccer team fell, 2-1, to New Mexico on Sunday afternoon at the Soccer Complex in Albuquerque. Freshman forward Kayla Cryer scored UW's lone goal in the fourth minute, as the Cowgirls still sit second in the Mountain West standings at 7-3 in conference play at 9-8-1 overall.

"I give credit to New Mexico," UW head coach Pete Cuadrado said. "They came out with a lot of energy and effort. It was great to get the first goal in the match but we can't stop playing until the match is over."

The Cowgirls created many opportunities with 11 shots and four on goal but couldn't seem to find the game winner against the Lobos. Freshman forward Kaitlyn Lomsnes paced UW with four shots and one on goal, while Alisha Bass and Alison Clarke each added two shots of their own. Defensively, senior goalkeeper Alex Boehm made six saves.

Cryer scored in the fourth minute of the game shooting from 20 yards out to beat the UNM keeper. The Lobos responded in the 47th minute capitalizing off a cross for a shot 10 yards out. UNM found the game winner in the 85th minute off a shot seven yards out.
