Former Wake Forest player Jamie Franks has been named assistant coach for the University of Denver men's soccer team, head coach Bobby Muuss announced today.

 

Franks joins the Pioneers after one year as a volunteer assistant with the Wake Forest men’s soccer team, while also coaching Triad Elite U13 & U14 Classic girls team.  He most recently played with the Rochester Rhinos in the USSF Division 2 Professional League. 

 

“We are extremely excited to welcome Jamie to the DU Family,” Muuss said. “Having recruited and coached Jamie while he was at Wake Forest, I know he will bring a lot to the Denver Soccer Program, both on and off the field. Jamie is the ultimate competitor, and we can’t wait to get him started with our team.”

 

Franks played for the Demon Deacons from 2005-08, the first two seasons of which Muuss served as assistant coach. Franks scored seven goals and 20 assists in 95 career games, helping lead Wake Forest to three College Cups, including the 2007 national championship. After leaving Wake, Franks was selected by Chivas USA in the fourth round of the 2009 MLS SuperDraft. Prior to college, Franks played on the US U-18 National Team

Franks takes over for former assistant coach Carson Porter, who accepted a position with U.S. Soccer, working with the youth national teams.
