FULLERTON, Calif. – University of Denver senior midfielder Collin Audley (Fort Collins, Colo.) scored on a penalty kick in overtime to give the Pioneers a 2-1 victory over Cal State Fullerton in the Big West Challenge men’s soccer event at Cal State Fullerton on Sunday afternoon.

 
“I’m proud of the guys this weekend, especially fighting hard in the heat,” said DU head coach Bobby Muuss, whose Pioneers (3-2-2) played No. 24 Cal State Northridge to a scoreless tie on Friday. “To tie a top 25 team and get a great come-from-behind road win today, we are really happy about the results. We also got contributions from a lot of players.”

 
After the Titans (4-3-1) took a 1-0 lead into halftime, freshman forward Alex Tarnoczi (Castle Rock, Colo.) tied the game in the 55th minute from 18 yards out, off a pass from junior forward Jesse Henderson (Detroit, Mich.).

 
Following a Fullerton penalty in the box, Audley nailed his penalty kick 3:50 into the extra time for the golden goal.

 
Senior goalkeeper Joe Willis (St. Louis, Mo.), senior defender Kris Banghart (Fort Collins, Colo.) and freshman midfielder Mark Weigand (Fort Wayne, Ind.) all received All-Tournament honors.

 
Denver remains on the road next week, facing Missouri State on Thursday and Tulsa on Saturday.
