FLYERS IMPROVE TO 10-1 WITH WIN OVER OAKLAND
DAYTON, Ohio – No. 18 Dayton women’s soccer closed out the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 2-1 victory over Oakland Sunday at Baujan Field.
After going down a goal early in the match, the Flyers (10-1-0) scored two unanswered goals to snatch the victory away from the Grizzlies (2-8-0).
Freshman Kelsey Smigel got UD on the board to equalize the score in the 35th minute. After collecting a long pass from senior Kelsey Miller, she beat the keeper with one move and put the goal away.
Junior Colleen Williams scored her seventh goal of the season in the 44th minute and it proved to be the game-winner. Smigel had the assist with a through ball up the middle to Williams.
The Flyers outshot Oakland 24-3, including 10-2 on frame.
Dayton has a bye week and will be back in action Oct. 7 when it takes on La Salle in Philadelphia in A-10 action.
