FSU Outlasts TCU to Reach College Cup Final
In a slow-burning semifinal that intensified in the second half, Florida State used Wrianna Hudson's 73rd-minute goal to defeat TCU and reach its second College Cup final in three years.
The opening period tilted in favor of the ACC side, who held a 9-3 advantage in shots. However, as she did all fall, TCU sophomore keeper Liv Geller stepped up when needed, stopping all three attempts that hit the target. When play resumed after halftime, the Horned Frogs shifted their approach and created several quality chances, most notably when Emma Yolinsky struck the crossbar in the 54th minute.

Despite TCU’s efforts, the Seminoles gradually wrestled back control of the match. This momentum shift culminated in the match-winning moment, as Peyton McGovern fed a pass out wide to Sophia Nguyen, whose pinpoint cross to the back post was met by a Hudson volley. In response, TCU generated two final chances to equalize: first on a penalty shout that VAR turned down with 13 minutes remaining, then on a last-second 1-v-1 shot from Seven Castain that forced an incredible save from Kate Ockene.
