GENESEO, NY— C.J. Scirto (Lockport/St. Joe's) tallied a goal and an assist as visiting Buffalo State (3-4-1/0-1) rallied from a two-goal deficit, only to fall 3-2 in overtime at Geneseo (3-4-1/1-0) in today's SUNYAC opener.
Geneseo dominated play in the opening half, outshooting the Bengals 11-0 and taking a 2-0 lead into the intermission that included an own goal just 10 minutes into the game.
Buffalo State regrouped in the second half and roared back to even the score. After Scirto netted his third goal of the season in the 61st minute, he set up the tying goal by Anthony Appiani (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) off a corner kick in the 83rd minute.
The Knights ended the game in the 95th minute, however, clinching the overtime victory.
Geneseo finished with a 23-9 advantage in shots and an 8-3 edge in corner kicks. Robby Kuhnle (Pleasant Valley/Arlington) finished with nine saves in goal for Buffalo State.
Buffalo State will face another conference opponent tomorrow when it visits Brockport at 1 p.m.
