ATLANTA – The Georgia State women’s  soccer team lost to James Madison 3-0 on Sunday at the GSU Soccer Complex.

James Madison’s Lauren Wilson scored a hat trick for the Dukes, scoring at the 10^th, 55^th, and 59^th minutes. Five other Dukes players took a shot, which equaled Georgia State’s shot count. Freshman Ashley Nagy led the team with four shots, two on goal for the Panthers. The other four shots came from four different Panthers.

Junior goalkeeper Rebecca Toler made two saves with three goals against. James Madison’s goalie, Marlee Stynchula, posted a shutout with her two saves.

“James Madison was able to stretch us out, which really took us out of our rhythm,” coach Derek Leader said. “It really hurt us when Carly (Lafferty) left the first half with an injury and couldn’t return. We couldn’t quite recover from her loss.”

After the game was over, Georgia State celebrated senior day for its three seniors. Carly Lafferty, Sarah Smith, and Kelley Hoyt were recognized for their accomplishments to the team.

The Panthers will next play George Mason on Friday, Oct. 19, in Fairfax, Va.,  at 7:00 p.m.
