MONTGOMERY, Ala.  – Alabama State women's soccer head coach Jodie Smith made his first move in preparation for the 2016 fall season by signing Inmaculada "Inma" Martinez, a junior transfer from Missouri Valley College.

Martinez, a native of Madrid, Spain, has two years of eligibility remaining after finishing a highly successful sophomore season in which she led the Lady Vikings in five major offensive categories.

Martinez was the team leader in goals (seven), assists (six), points (20), shots (54) and shot on goals (32).

In 23 career games with Missouri Valley College, the forward scored 17 goals and showed a flair for big moments with seven winning goals. 

The two-time Heart of America Conference First Teamer also received a 2015 NAIA All-American honorable mention nod. 

Martinez was one of three players under head coach Drew Hawkins who achieved All-American status since 2012. 

She helped Missouri Valley finish 12-4-3 overall, the most wins under Hawkins. 

The team also ranked inside the top 25 of the NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches Poll for multiple weeks, ranking as high as No. 18, before it headed into the conference tournament.
