Hornets Win Home Opener
Box Score The Alabama State soccer team captured its second win of the season, defeating USC-Upstate 1-0 at the ASU Soccer Complex on Friday night.
"I'm pleased of our performance after the way we played Tuesday," Head Coach Jodie Smith said. "They WORKED HARD
all week and it paid off for us today. Due to Kylee and the defenders we were composed and organized defensively."
Aaliyah Lewis scored her second goal of the season in the 12th minute of the match with her quick feet.
Senior goalkeeper Kylee Hathaway had 3 key saves on the day for the Lady Hornets. Alabama State was outshot 8-6 by the Spartans in the match.
"We are going to CONTINUE
to work on fitness, because we are still having a few issues. We hope to be able to improve going into next weekend," stated Coach Smith.
Alabama State (2-2) will return to action Friday, September 5th as they hit the road to face UNC-Ashville at 3 p.m. (CT).
