CHAPEL HILL, N.C., Sept. 13, 2011 — James Madison (2-1-1) led fifth-ranked North Carolina (4-1-0) early, but the Tar Heels scored three second-half goals en route to a 4-1 win in men's soccer Tuesday night.

UNC rebounded from its 1-0 loss at Virginia Tech Saturday, a defeat that knocked the Tar Heels out of the top spot in all three national polls.  UNC entered Tuesday's game ranked fifth by Soccer America, eighth in the national coaches poll (NSCAA) and fourth by College Soccer News.

The Dukes got a goal from senior Patrick Innes (Chester, Va./Thomas Dale) midway through the opening half to lead the Tar Heels 1-0 in the 28th minute.

Ten minutes later, however, UNC's Enzo Martinez scored on a header off a corner kick to tie the game at 1-1.

UNC, which out-shot JMU 23-11 in the game, scored the remaining three goals in the second period.

Mikey Lopez scored on an eight-yard shot in the 57th minute, and a Martinez pass to Billy Schuler in the 61st minute resulted in a Schuler goal on a 10-yard shot.

Schuler returned the favor in the final minutes of the match, sending a ball to Martinez, who scored off the pass with 5:47 left.
Both JMU redshirt senior goalkeeper Justin Epperson (Herndon, Va./Oakton) and Tar Heel keeper Scott Goodwin finished with three saves.

JMU's next match is at home Saturday, Sept. 17, vs. Lafayette (7 p.m.).
