HARMON AND LEBLANC LEAD NO. 13 SOCCER MONARCHS OVER NAVY, 4-0

NORFOLK, VA—ODU senior midfielders Chris Harmon (Downingtown, PA) and Jordan LeBlanc (Haverford, PA.)

both scored two goals with one assist to lead the 13^th ranked Monarchs to a 4-0

season opening victory over Navy Saturday evening before a crowd of 878.

 

ODU, who ranked second nationally in goals per game last year at 2.3 picked up whereit off

as Harmon got on the board first with an assist from freshman Sidney Rivera (Hampton, NJ.) with less

than eight minutes left in the half, for a 1-0 halftime lead.

 

In the second half, Jordan LeBlanc scored on a penalty kick nine minutes into the match after a Navy

foul in the box.  Leblanc then hit Harmon in the middle of the box for the Monarchs third goal of the night with 12 minutes

left and the two hooked up again with a little more than seven minutes left to complete the scoring.

 

ODU’s defense was stellar, shutting down the Midshipmen led by junior defender Jason Gaylord (Kendall, NY.) along with All-CAA goalkeeper and pre-season Hermann Watch List selection Victor Francoz. ODU outshot Navy, 19-10 overall and 7-3 in shots on goal.

 

The Monarchs return to action next Saturday when they travel to Orlando, FL. To take on Central

Florida.
