Martin Makes History
LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Soccer freshman striker Aaron Martin has become the first player in Siena Soccer history to earn MAAC Rookie of the Week honors in consecutive weeks. This also marks the first in nine years that the Saints have boasted the MAAC Rookie of the Week in back-to-back weeks, since Matthew Kadoch and Emery Welshman captured acclaim on Oct. 19 and Oct. 26, 2009, respectively.
Martin, who was previously tabbed the conference’s first Rookie of the Week for the 2018 season on Aug. 27, scored the equalizer late in the second half to rally Siena to a 1-1 road draw at Holy Cross Friday night. The Madrid, Spain standout knotted the score with his 75th minute blast, and led the Saints with four shots in the match.
Martin has tallied points in each of his first three collegiate matches. The freshman has scored twice and added an assist to lead Siena in the early going with five points.
Martin and the Saints return to action Tuesday when they open a season long four-match homestand with their home opener vs. Lafayette at 3 p.m.
