Men's Five Things: Pac-12 and CONMEBOL?
The men’s season is closing in on conference play, and in some cases it’s already begun. Here’s a look at five major talking points as the season motors into another exciting weekend of action.
Creighton takes lead as top contender
We’ve talked in the past in this space about the neurotic blender that is men’s college soccer. If you think it’s going one way, just wait a minute and it’ll change. Creighton is perhaps the biggest impediment to that notion. The Bluejays started the season as presumptive favorites, and unlike some of their brethren in that category, they’ve held the line. In fact, the nation’s undisputed No. 1 team is off to a laudable 6-0-0 start and has looked every bit the part of a national title contender. Top teams need to be able to handle a multitude of styles to win the title, and Creighton proved it can grind them out (1-0 win over Michigan State) and win open games (4-0 win over UC Irvine). This train doesn’t appear to be slowing any time soon.
