Men’s Soccer Drops 2-1 Decision at Malone
CANTON, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's men's soccer team couldn't overcome a one goal deficit, falling 2-1 at Malone, falling 2-1 to the host Pioneers on Friday evening.
With the setback, the Panthers fall to 3-3-1 overall and post a 2-2 record in conference play while Malone now stands at 1-4 overall and 1-3 in the GLIAC.
The Pioneers struck first as Sam Tonelli connected for his second goal of the season from a Rubem Miranda and Kelvin Aquino assist.
Following the break, Malone tallied their second goal of the game when Miranda cut left and bounced the ball off the crossbar to give the Pioneers a 2-0 lead.
In the 89th minute the Panthers scored their lone goal after sophomore Frazer Fernandes (Gahanna, Ohio) scored on a corner kick by freshman Brent Wahle (Pataskala, Ohio).
The Panthers outshot the Pioneers 25-12 and held a 9-6 advantage on shots on goal.
Freshmen goalie Macklin Robinson (Cincinnati, Ohio) tallied four saves in goal.
ODU continues their road trip for a 3:30 conference match-up against the Walsh Cavaliers on Sunday, Sep. 23.
