Towson, Md. (September 1, 2013) -- The Mount St. Mary's women's soccer team suffered a 4-1 setback against Towson in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon. Alicia Mirando scored on a penalty kick in the 66th minute for the Mount. 

The Mountaineers (1-3) yielded two goals in the first 21 minutes and were never able to recover as the Tigers (2-2) netted two goals in both halves to secure the win. Emily Banes scored in the 22nd and 81st minutes to lead Towson, who outshot the Mount 21-2 on the day. 

With 16:48 gone in the first half, Towson's Sophia Read found the back of the net to put the Mount in a 1-0 hole. Five minutes later, Barnes gave the Tigers a 2-0 advantage going into halftime. 

Rachel Bourne made four first half saves before Vicky Cocozza made two saves over the final 45 minutes for the Mountaineers. 

Katlyn Axenfeld scored from 18 yards out 13 minutes into the second half for a 3-0 Towson advantage. 

Miranda's penalty kick with just under 25 minutes to play got the Mount on the scoreboard for the first time. The Tigers were able to cap the scoring at 4-1 on Banes' diving header in the 81st minute. 

For the Tigers, Erin Quinn made one save to pick up the victory in goal. 

Next up, the Mount will play on the road at Rider on Sept. 6 at 4 p.m.
